Belfry of Ghent

Above the city of Ghent rises, gray and lonely, the belfry 't Oud Belfort', the symbol of the past. The dragon on the summit scans the horizon When the enemy approached, the carillon 'Klolle Roeland' warned the bourgeois of the city. The important visitors, the performances and of course the beginning of the Ghent Festivities were (and still are) announced by the carillon. Unesco has inscribed this building on the World Heritage List.
