Visit of the Rodenbach Brewery

Founded in 1789, the Rodenbach brewery is mainly known for its red-brown beer, a recognised Flemish local product whose recipe dates back to the Middle Ages. Nowadays we are used to drinking beer cold, but the red-brown beer's slightly sour taste was also enjoyed back when refrigerators had not yet been invented. The beer is still completely brewed according to traditional methods. Once the brewing process has been completed and the beer has matured for a few weeks, the beer is transferred to oak casks where it then matures for at least another 18 months. It is then mixed with young beer to obtain the characteristic Flemish red-brown ale.

Information

The Rodenbach brewery gladly welcomes groups. The two-hour tour allows you to follow the entire brewing process closely and to visit the old brewing hall featuring nearly 300 impressive oak maturation casks. And of course, the tour is concluded with a tasting session.
