The Lys Cycle Route

By following the cycle routes, you can cross territories over several tens of kilometres, sometimes sharing the road with other users such as motorists. Generally shorter, the greenways remain exclusively reserved for pedestrians, cyclists, horse riders sometimes and all other non-motorized users. They are therefore favored by families who wish to hike in complete safety along a route.

Between Aire-sur-la-Lys and Halluin-Menin, the Véloroute de la Lys joins the Véloroute des Flandres et de la Deûle. On its portion upstream of Armentières, some sections require leaving the banks of the river to join the road frequented by motorists. Between Armentières and Halluin-Menin, it bears the name of Voie Verte de la Lys: the route is entirely dedicated to non-motorized users. Another sixty kilometers and here you are in Ghent!
